Theology of Work Project (2012 Update)

As most of you know, Randy helped launch the Theology of Work Project, engaging researchers to work through the 66 books of the Bible and 20 key topics discovering what Godâ??s word teaches us about the work in our daily lives. While nearly everyone believed it was essential, few believed it was possible, in part because it would need to be supervised by a committee representing a wide range of the body of Christ, and in part because it would require over $1.5 million. But nothing is impossible with God, and when Haddon Robinson, Tom Phillips, Joanna Mockler and Andy Mills stepped up, the project suddenly had legs!

Randy on how Cheryl got involved: "When the Project started, money was scarce and everything was bare bones.  Realizing my (Randy) need for help organizing, Cheryl volunteered to serve as Project Manager until funds could be raised to hire someone fulltime.  For the first 18 months, both she and Executive Editor Will Messenger served without compensation, but when the Project received a $1 million dollar gift, it was time to build a team.  By this time, Cheryl had discovered that her gifts of hospitality were well-used in organizing and hosting the two annual work sessions of the Project, and her organizational skills caused President Haddon Robinson to ask her to stay on as Project Manager.  Cheryl, who is deeply passionate about personal relationships, working in the local community, and children's ministries, and here she finds herself helping to form a workplace ministry tool!  Though puzzled by how she got there, Cheryl is a natural (Randy speaking) and her hospitality during the conferences plays a huge role in securing the bond the Holy Spirit built within team members, using the same skills she uses to tend the Life Community Group which meets in our home."
